Wisconsin is best known for its cheese and breweries, but others might know it as the "forward" state. Moving forward through the trails here should be loads of family fun for off-roaders. Bordering on two of the great lakes, this state offers many options for those seeking that wild wooded riding to make lasting memories.
Off-road terrain in this state consists of rolling hills, rocky trail systems and during or just after the spring thaw you will find plenty of mud. Most trails will remain closed in winter months until the snow melts or until the local authorities deem it okay to ride the trails.
When it comes to lodging in Wisconsin, you will find ample primitive and RV camp locations across the state. There are also many main stream hotels and some VRBO or bed and breakfast type locations as well. Making an entire week of adventure here is as simple as a little planning.

Iron County ATV Trails
There are 5 trails that make up the Iron Country trail system in the northern part of the state. There are thick hardwood forests and the Penokee Range that give the area some amazing views that you won’t want to miss. Avoid going during the fall firearm deer hunting season, but you will want to check the area out when the leaves start to change in the fall. You will be treated to the complete pallet of nature’s paintbrush if you do. The trails are groomed and when the snow flies, you’d have to switch to a snowmobile if you want to ride.
